Café Mado
[From the 1/16/25 newsletter]
Last night I had dinner at the bar of Café Mado in Brooklyn which Melissa Clark raved about in The New York Times.
The Caesar salad was terrific, as was the Negroni I had with it:
It was presented like flowers coming out of a vase, with each piece of romaine (or baby gem?) brushed with the dressing and sprinkled with tons of Parmesan and I think nutritional yeast.
The Tony (a sandwich in honor of Anthony Bourdain) was out-of-this-world with fried mortadella, Dijonaisse, on a house-made sesame English muffin:
The fries were stellar, dusted with herbs de Provence:
But my favorite bite was the dessert: a financier cake that was chewy and crispy and tender all at once. I hope they don’t take it off the menu!
If you live in Brooklyn, get thee to Café Mado.
